The Divisional Police Officer of Alausa, CSP Abaniwonda Tokunbo has been attacked by some suspected armed robbers at the Otedola Bridge in the state metropolis.
It was learned that the DPO was on sting operation to the bridge when the armed robbers ambushed and attacked her.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, SP Benjamin Hundeyin in a statement, on Tuesday, said on April 9, 2024, at about 11pm while on sting operation to the Otedola Bridge, Alausa in Ikeja, three gang of armed robbers surfaced and suddenly attacked her with cutlass and other dangerous weapons. Hundeyin said after the dastardly act, the hoodlums ran away to an unknown destination.
He said: “On April 13, they were tracked to their hiding at a Hotel, Akute, Ajuwon area of Ogun State upon receipt of the information the anti- crime team of the division then move swiftly to the hotel where the ring leader one Tochuckwu Nonso 29, alias ‘Thug life’ in company of one Chidera Christopher 25 were arrested and immediately brought down to the station for further investigation with the exhibits found on them.”
During the investigation, it was revealed that the suspects forcefully snatched the Samsung S22 phone from the DPO and then macheted her on the back again before escaping.
Meanwhile, further efforts led to the arrest of one Richard Etim, 25, in a different part of the state.
Hundeyin, however said the ring leader of the gang had been robbing on the Otedola Bridge for over five years, but changing his gangs every now and then to avoid arrest.
